A long love affair with vintage Faux Bamboo

Posted by Emma S - proprietor - Gold Label Vintage on

Faux Bamboo is easy to decorate with and compliments a range of styles, whether yours is beach style, mid century or just plain glamorous. It brings that "certain something" to your interior and has a relaxed elegance all its own.

Perhaps the most popular faux bamboo item is the Chinese Chippendale style chair, which enjoyed huge popularity in the later half of the 20th century, at it's height in the 1970s.

For the last few years, the style of Faux Bamboo and Chinoiserie has enjoyed a resurgence and has coined the term "Palm Beach Regency". Incorporating lacquered furniture in bright colours with bold prints, creating a breezy, elegant look that is reminiscent of glamorous homes by the sea.

I have had a long love affair with the style and in fact, it is my favourite of all vintage looks.

As with any resurgence in a vintage style, come the replicas. Look, don't get me wrong... some of them present very nicely and look pretty BUT they're just not the real deal, are they?
